What are parents saying?
“My son loved the book. He especially liked the watercolor illustrations, the personification of fear, the humor, and the friendship at the end. He has dealt with fear and anxiety, and it was great to see him reading it with a smile on his face the whole way through.”

“This was such a cute book! I love how you included God in it. The use of fear getting larger and larger with every fear the hedgehog encountered was also a wonderful visual for children to see what happens if they keep being fearful!”

The Story
Little hedgehog is excited to play, but at every turn a mysterious friend predicts disaster. Can this hedgehog overcome fear?
Fear transforms his room into a nightmare, his playtime into an accident, and his pool visit into a haunting experience. We all struggle with fear, but knowing that there is life beyond it is always helpful. The experience of the great outdoors, fun with friends, and the comforts of home are rediscovered as hedgehog overcomes fear.
The book hones in on one of the most unaddressed areas of child development- namely, the function of fear in our imagination. Yet with very simple language the story succeeds in showing how wise planning and a little bit of awareness can help us conquer our crippling fears.
Written in poetic verse and filled with handdrawn watercolor illustrations, Hedgehog Vs. Fear offers a loveable character with gumption that kids will enjoy.

This book was well written. I read it to my son and he loved it!
Loved the story line and that “Bones” made an appearance in the pool.
Good story to use to talk out fear with children that are experiencing that feeling. Anxiety is so prevalent even in young kids. This might be a way to identify it and talk it out with them before it takes a stronghold.
Lovely story and very relatable.
